Koenigsegg the swedish supercar manufacturer is proud of two cars the ccx and ccxr.The koenigsegg CCX is mid engined supercar,developed to replace the CCR.And it is the latest installment in the series of "CC",the "CC" stands for Competition Coupe so that means CCX means competition coupe X,X is a symbol for their tenth anniversary in accordance to the roman numeral.
CCX was designed with care so that they could enter the international markets and the most importantly the american the market,it complies with the rules of californian emission standards.
The CCX debuted first on Feb 28,2006 in geneva motor show.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT:
The previous versions of the "CC" used a Ford modular V8 engines sourced in from the U.S.The Ford engine was replaced by a koenigsegg engine tuned and designed to run on 91 octane fuel.The car is 88 millimeters longer than the previous ones,the increment comes in so as to comply with the U.S standards.The seats of car are provided by the sparco company.

PERFORMANCE:
The koneigsegg accelerates from a stand still to 60mph (100knph) in a low 3.2 seconds and can reach the 100mph (160kmph) mark in 7.7 seconds flat.It can finish a quarter of a mile in 9.9 seconds and a standing quarter mile of 146 mph.The turning radius of the CCX is 5.5 meters and turns at 1.3 lateral g's.It has a claimed top whack of 245 mph i.e, 395 kmph.

THE BEAST INSIDE:
The engine of koenigsegg is 4.7 litres,dual camshafts and 4 valves per cylinder.The engine is made out of Aluminium 356 which has passed a T7 heat treatment.The alloy is lighter and efficient than the previous ones.It boasts of twin centrifrugal superchargers which increase the compression to 17.5 psi.The engine produces a whooping 806 BHP.The pistons are cooled by spraying oil and the oil is cooled by an external component.The CCX gives a mileage of 14 miles per gallon.The transmission is provided by cima,it is a twin plate clutch of 4.23inches radius.A sequential manual transmission is also available,the torque is applied to the wheels by a "limited slip differential" which is a modified type of differential transmission.You can select the required gear ratios by youself.

BRAKES:
the front and rear cast iron disc brakes are 14 inches across with 1.25 inches of contact at any point and have 6 piston calipers. The brakes can be upgraded to carbon ceramic brakes which weigh 4.4 lb less per wheel, a diameter of 15 inches with 1.34 inches of contact and eight piston brake calipers.

WHEELS:
The car has michelin pilot sport 2 undirectional tyres.These tyres have an asymmetric thread.
The front tires have codes of 255/35 Y19 and the rear 335/30 Y20.

BODY:
The car is a two door targa top and the body is made of pre-impregnated carbon fibre and kevlar
and the length is 169 inches in total.The car stands 44.1 inches tall and 78.6 inches wide with a good ground clearance of about 3.9inches.The car has a modified scissor door called "dihedral synchro-helix" door which opens so as to not to give any hinderance to the passenger entry or exit.


THE CCXR:


The CCXR is nothing but something like a race version of CCX,it has the same engine,transmission setup,suspension and everything the CCX has, except the power cuz it is modified to run on E-85 ethanol,plus that a little bit of engine tuning comes out a whooping 1018BHP @7200rpm and another whooping 1060 Nm of torque @ 6100rpm.The CCXR provides 25% more power than the CCX.The engine tuning is a more fierce one than that of the CCX and the previous editons.The CCXR is claimed to have a top whack of 420kmph i.e,261 mph
and it might accelerate within 2.7 seconds to 60mph from a stand still.It is the second most fastest production behind Shelby's SSC ultimate aero.
